 About FADA

Sinead Clarke, FADA Fashion Designer

My name is Sinéad. I was born and raised in Ireland. In 2007, after graduating from Fashion School, I set up a small label designing and manufacturing luxury merino wool knitwear clothing and accessories. The label was called EssenC Knitwear, pronounced "S and C", conceived from the initials in my name. This was a true passion of mine and I used my travels as inspirations for colour stories, patterns and textures within my knitwear.
Following a move to Toronto, Canada in 2013 as part of a work / travel adventure, I set up a studio and continued to create and sell the knitwear in Canada. Over the years I had missed creating garments from woven fabrics and this lead to a new collection in cotton and linens, initially for Spring / Summer. Loose tailored items with clean silhouettes and clever details. The first collection was in 2015 under a new name, FADA.

In 2017, ten years after EssenC was born, we are now merging the two brands into one - FADA. The integrity of our initial knitwear brand still remains, it has just joined forces with its younger counterpart. We are excited about this new adventure in Canada and will continue to use travel and the Irish heritage in the design process.

FADA clothing is sold in Toronto in our own store called the Irish Design House, another venture which was set up by myself and my partner shortly after arriving to Toronto. This store is a collection of my own work and fifty other Irish designer-makers from all across Ireland, all making their individual craft as a full time career. It has it's own online presence, (www.theirishdesignhouse.com), and the FADA design studio is on the same premises, located behind the store.
